buddyList view not working?

I cant get then BuddyList view in the User Profile to load any of my buddies. Is there any additional conf aside from whats in the doc?
I enabled UserNodes and I see nodes being created and in the BuddyList section (outside the User Profile Panel of Advanced Profile Kit) , I see my buddies. but in the User Profile Panel of Advanced Profile Kit, its empty.
I also tried creating 2 users in this demo site and made them buddies. It does not appear in the User Panel's BuddyList.
I added Michelle as a buddy too.
Any tricks to get this working?
