Hi,
just a couple of things.
Is there any way to restrict a user to a particular forum based on their role ?
Also my MARK ALL AS READ and POST NEW FORUM TOPIC buttons at the top of the forum list overwrite the forum list itself as the list doesn't start beanneath them on the page. Any ideas where I might have to look in theming/styling to correct this ?
Thanks
Keith
Michelle,
I did try Taxonomy Node Access but it went a little belly up and killed half my views, finally recovered the system though after uninstalling and 3 hours figuring out what went wrong.
Think I'll try the Forum Access first as you suggest, however I like the power of Node Access, just need to get my head around it.
Thanks
Keith

Michelle,
Downloaded the dev version but I still have the "Mark all topics as read" and "Post New Forum Topic" buttons on top of the Topic/Replies/Created/Last Reply header bar.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Keith
[EDIT] sorry my mistake, hadn't copied the ADVFORUMS into my theme system, now trying to change the theme for my own style. How can I remove the gradient inner background ? Try as I might I can't get it to go away, even if I rename the actual file in the images folder it still shows. As you can probably guess I'm new to all of this, my PHP is ok, my CSS stinks !
Sorry for all these early questions, I'm sure you would rather be doing something a little more productive as opposed to nursing me through this but it would appear that I'm missing some basic understanding here and any help would be appreciated before I loose yet more hair.
I have used you forum here and all seems well.
I have now integrated it into my own local site, configured permissions with the Forum Access module so certain 'users' have certain permissions, I've done a little theming so it has almost the look and feel of the site I'm using. So....
I finally post a test entry into a forum. When I press the Post New Forum Topic 'button' I get a node submission page with the breadcrumbs showing "Home » System Content", and most of the options available, published, comment settings, attachments, format type etc...
I enter text into the title and body, I press submit, page refreshes and it finally comes back and says
"Your Forum topic has been created."
All well and good. I go back to the main Forum list and this DOES NOT show a new topic has been created, also if I click into the forum then this first thread is not shown anywhere. It's listed on my RECENT TOPICS area of ADVProfile I'm using but nowhere else.
I feel I'm missing something pretty fundamental here, what is it please I'm doing wrong ?
Thanks
Keith
[EDIT] - Seems very similar to the issue The Architect pointed out http://socnet.shellmultimedia.com/node/2#comment-59 - Was a resolution found for this ?
It looks like this might be an ongoing topic and I'm researching as we speak.
But if anyone can explain the relationship between forums and vocabularies I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Keith
This is an issue with the forum module, not advforum. That issue you pointed to is what I would have pointed you to as well. The relationship is that forum is a vocabulary and forums are terms.
Michelle
Thanks Michelle,
aye not a ADVForum issue , but now I now have to work out how to get my forums up and running lol.
Thanks
Keith
This has the best and easiest answer yet on this matter !
Now it's full steam ahead wrapping ADVForum around the bases again lol.
Keith

The forum access module will do the first part. The second part is fixed in the dev version of advforum. I need to make another alpha. I know the project page has a dire warning against using the devs but the current tarball should be ok. I haven't done any new dev work on it in a while.
